Senior Business Analyst
Purpose of Job:
To manage, coordinate, design and direct development projects within the Company's eCommerce activities, comprising: CORE (B&M, Supply Chain, WMS, CRM) or CONSUMER (Web & MCR design & content management). The SBA / Project Manager coordinates and directs all activities and personnel involved in the requirements gathering & sign-off, design, development, implementation and completion of projects including scheduling, budgeting and performance against plan, sign-off.
This dual (SBA/PM) role incorporates conventional BA activity, ie: Working closely with the internal client, to examine existing business models and the flows of data in the business. SBAs will review their findings with the client, and then design an appropriate improved IT solution.
The role will typically require the costing of specifications and production of outline designs of new IT systems, specifying the data, files and logical operations the system will perform, and the way data will be viewed by the user.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head of Core and/or Consumer Systems or IT Director as appropriate.
Main Responsibilities:
· Initiates projects with PID-based documentation and set up control processes, such as project boards, as required by each project.
· Manages, organises, co-ordinates and monitors activities and functions of development projects in co-operation with other departments and partners, contractors and design professionals
· Analyses and prepares written reports on program and project performance using qualitative analyses, diagrams and other project management techniques.
· Develops program and project budgets, schedules, work plans, labour utilisation, and cost estimates/projections as required.
· Meets with user representatives and developers to review proposed projects and activities
· Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work co-operatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
· Liaising extensively with external or internal clients
· Producing project feasibility reports
· Translating client requirements into highly specified project briefs
· Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability
· creating logical and innovative solutions to complex problems
· drawing up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems
· presenting proposals to clients
· working closely with developers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
· for full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery to plan and that budgets are adhered to
· drawing up testing schedules
· planning and working flexibly to a deadline
· writing user manuals and providing training to users of a new system as appropriate
· keeping up to date with technical as well as industry sector developments
Education, Skills and Experience:
Education: Numerate education to A level or beyond.
Skills:
· Produce written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts.
· Use and interpret graphical information such as plans, schematic drawings, flow charts, layouts, other visual aids, and electronic project management applications.
· Prepare and monitor program budgets and expenditures.
· Explain information in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical persons.
· Communicate orally in the English language with other employees, and partners as appropriate
· Comprehend and make inferences from material written in the English language.
Systems Experience - Technologies & Methodologies. Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:
· Agile
· RUP, formal requirements definition toolsets / methods
· ITIL
· Prince2
· Experience working with a Microsoft .NET, SQL Server development environment
· MS Project
Industry experience:
· Significant experience within eCommerce, the retail sector or other high content sector, ideally a T1 Multi-channel Retailer or eCommerce-only retailer
· Has been responsible for the successful delivery of a complex project (design, development & implementation)
· Experience with Web and/ or Fulfilment systems, as appropriate
· International operations experience is desirable
· Business Systems Experience with mission-critical systems
· High transactional volume environment experience
